FAQ

Your Rights & Insurance

  • Can I choose where my car gets repaired?

Yes. In Idaho, you have the legal right to choose your own repair shop, regardless of what your insurance company suggests. You’re not required to use their “preferred” shop.

  • I was told I have to take my car to a certain shop. Is that true?

No—it’s not. That’s a common misconception. Insurers may recommend shops they’ve negotiated with, but the choice is yours.

  • How do I set up an insurance claim?

Start by contacting your insurance provider. From there, we’re happy to assist with the process—we’ll even handle communication with your adjuster and send progress updates and documentation.

  • When is my deductible due?

Your deductible is typically paid when your vehicle is ready for pick-up. If you’re unsure of your deductible amount, your insurance provider can confirm that for you.

  • What if I don't have insurance for repairs?

No problem. We work with all customers—whether you’re going through insurance or paying out of pocket. And while we don’t advertise it, we may be able to offer discounted pricing depending on the situation. Just come talk to us—we’ll do what we can to help.

  • Is it cheaper to pay out of pocket instead of using insurance?

Sometimes, especially for smaller repairs. We’re happy to provide an honest recommendation after reviewing the damage. We also may offer discounted pricing for self-pay repairs, depending on the situation.

Repairs, Certifications & Quality

  • What is an I-CAR Gold Class Certification, and Why Does It Matter?

Adesa Auto Body is proud to be I-CAR Gold Class certified—a designation held by only 15% of collision repair shops nationwide. This means our entire team, from detailers to managers, receives ongoing training in the latest safety systems, tools, and repair techniques. It's one of the industry’s highest standards.

  • How are your technicians trained?

In addition to years of hands-on experience, our staff regularly completes I-CAR training and OEM-specific courses to stay current with modern vehicle technologies.

  • Does the repair come with a warranty?

Absolutely. We offer a lifetime paint warranty and stand behind all of our workmanship. If anything doesn’t meet your expectations, we’ll make it right.

  • What kind of cars do you repair?

Anything and everything. We’ve fixed a range of cars from Ferraris to Geo Metros and even done restorations of vintage cars.

  • How much does car repair cost?

It depends on your vehicle and the type of damage. There’s no set pricing in this industry, so we always do a free walk-in estimate to assess your specific situation.

Cost, Timeline & Damage Types

  • How much does car repair cost?

It depends on the damage. Every vehicle and repair is different, so we provide free walk-in estimates based on your specific situation.

  • How is the estimate calculated?

We consider the labor, parts, and time required—and we follow OEM repair procedures to ensure nothing is overlooked.

  • Why is it called an “estimate” and not a final price?

Some damage isn’t visible until repairs begin. That’s why we keep you informed throughout the process—no surprise charges, ever.

  • What happens with a total loss?

If the cost to repair your car exceeds its market value, your insurance company may declare it a “total loss.” That determination is typically made by your insurer based on their valuation, with input from our evaluation.
Keep in mind: Diminished value or loss-of-use compensation only applies if your vehicle is repaired, and you were not at fault in the accident.

  • What is Diminished Value, and How Do I Get It?

If your car is involved in a collision that wasn’t your fault and it gets repaired, its resale value may still drop—simply because the accident now appears on the Carfax report. This reduction is called diminished value, and you may be entitled to compensation for it.We can connect you with professionals who specialize in helping drivers recover diminished value after an accident.

  • How long does car repair take?

It depends on the damage and parts availability. We’ll give you a time estimate during your walkthrough and keep you updated throughout the entire process.

"I’ve spent a lot of years in the auto body industry. Finding a shop that does good work and quickly, let’s put it this way. You are more likely to find a gold nugget while on a well traveled hiking path. This place does both as well as great customer service. I live 2 1/2 hrs away and I came here specifically because of their level of service. I will continue to do so and tell anyone that needs service to come here."
